Description:

The Class of Language of the Graduate School Language & Literature
Munich is inviting applications for PhD-places starting the
forthcoming winter semester 2023/24.

Deadline for applications is June 15, 2023.

Doctoral students will find excellent conditions in the Class of
Language at LMU Munich - a research-oriented and systematically
structured interdisciplinary teaching program with individual and
intensive supervision by university teachers and diverse opportunities
for exchange between doctoral students, teachers, and international
guest scholars. It additionally offers financial support for the
research projects as well as a variety of courses to strengthen
personal and analytical skills. Double-degrees within the framework of
'Cotutelle de Thèse' are supported.

Requirements for a successful application include, among others, an
above-average first university degree in a linguistic discipline,
willingness to actively contribute to a structured doctoral program,
and a convincing project outline. While presentations in the Class of
Language can be held in German or English, the working language is
German. Therefore, German language skills (at least B1 level) are also
required.

At this time, a qualifying position cannot be offered, however,
accepted applicants will be supported in seeking alternative funding
opportunities.
