The following position is available in the Department of Linguistics
of the Faculty of Humanities beginning August 1, 2023 or soon after.

Lecturer non-tenured (German: Akademischer Rat auf Zeit)
(m/f/d; grade A 13)

The position will be filled on a civil servant basis for an initial
period of three years. An extension by additional three years is
planned following a positive evaluation. The responsibilities of the
position holder include a teaching load of 4 hours weekly, according
to the requirements of the LVVO, as well as research in the field of
cognitive modeling and natural language processing. The holder of the
position is expected to work towards qualifying for appointment to a
professorship by earning a habilitation or equivalent.

Requirements for employment are a completed PhD in a relevant field
(linguistics, cognitive science, computational linguistics, or
similar), the ability to teach in English, and the ability to conduct
independent scientific research in cognitive modeling and/or natural
language processing (as verified, e.g., by relevant publications).
Requirement for employment is to meet at least one of the following
criteria:
 - practical experience with and solid theoretical understanding of
current language technologies,
 - statistical modeling of language-related cognition,
 - familiarity with linguistic theory (particularly with semantics and
pragmatics),
 - experience with experimental methods in linguistic research.
