Call for Papers:

To commemorate the 70th anniversary of Zellig Harris's seminal
"Distributional Structure," published in WORD, 1954, we are planning a
special issue of WORD slated for December 2024.

If there were a Geiger counter that measured the underappreciated
relevance of an older publication to current developments, one could
argue that Harris's 70-year-old work on distribution would send the
needle to 'max'. It is worth letting a wider linguistics audience
better appreciate how this is so. And it is to this end that we issue
this call for submissions.

>From now through February 2024 we welcome article submissions for this
special issue that shed light on some aspect of Harris 1954,
illuminate its subsequent impact, or take issue with it these 70 years
later in ways currently relevant.

To ensure consideration for the special issue, manuscripts should be
submitted by February 29, 2024.

All submissions are to be made online at the WORD Editorial Manager
website (http://www.editorialmanager.com/rwrd/default.aspx). In
submitting for this special issue, be sure to choose "special issue"
from the pull-down menu under "Select Article Type." From there select
the special issue labeled "Zellig Harris 1954," which will be added to
that menu in due course. (New users should first create an account.
Once logged onto the site, submissions should be made via the Author
Centre. Online user guides and access to a helpdesk are available on
this website.)
