Dear Colleagues,

I am directing an undergraduate research team that is developing an
online, searchable database of the world's writing systems.
One feature we would like to add is maps indicating the geographic
space where a given script is used.

Does anyone know of any sharable raw GIS data we could use to make our
own maps, or a source that allows creative-commons/public domain maps
that we could display on our web page, now under development? Our
modest budget does not allow for any pricey licensing fees.

Please share any leads with me at pfallon at umw.edu.

Thank you in advance.
