Institute of Ethnolinguistics at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań,
Poland invites you to take part in the 3rd International Conference in
the series: Comparative Studies of Language and Culture, which will be
held on 21-22 September 2023 in Poznań, Poland, under the title House
or Home? Ambiguity and redefinition.
The Conference will provide an opportunity to present insights on
comparative research on language, literature, social and culture
studies. We hope that the broad spectrum of the issues discussed will
help outline current research on culture and inspire discussion on its
future. The conference will also provide an opportunity for
Participants to share results of their research on different languages
and cultures.

future. The conference will also provide an opportunity for
Participants to share results of their research on different languages
and cultures.
This year's title of the conference - House or Home ? Ambiguity and
redefinition concerns the changes taking place in the culture of the
21st century related to new readings of seemingly basic, well-known
concepts of house, home, homeland, and the search for "one's place".
It also refers to the issue of the growing interest in design,
architecture and the new approaches to the idea of "home".
The following list contains some potential topics to be addressed in
20-minute paper presentations:

Linguistics
- ambiguity and redefinition of the term home in translation
- the impact of migration on language
- language policy, the language of public space in the face of
migration and nationalism
- linguistic determinants of identity
- creating identity in the media
- design and architecture in lexicography
- language of design and architecture
Art and literature
- ambiguity and redefinition of the term home as a theme in literature
and art
- eradication
- means of expressing migration experiences
- House or Home in refugee and exile literature and art
- new identity / between identities
Cultural and Social Sciences
- ambiguity and redefinition of the term home in culture and society
- no homeland
- new identity / between identities
- revaluation of urban and rural space, re-urbanization vs.
suburbanization
- interior design as a phenomenon of pop culture
Culture - still traditional?
- folklore - traditions related to home, place of residence, change of
place
- traditional design and architecture / new readings
- rural and urban traditions and their implementation in the 21st
century

We are planning a conference in a hybrid format - onsite and online
participation (MS Teams).

Applications for the conference should be made via the Google form,
available at:

Working language of the conference: English, Polish, Russian,
Ukrainian.
Deadline for the applications: 30 June, 2023 (deadline extended)
Conference fee for participants is: PLN 280 / EUR 55 and includes:
conference materials, coffee breaks and publication of selected
papers. Please note that the conference fee must be paid in advance.
There is no possibility of payment at the arrival.

All other costs (travel, accommodation, meals, medical insurance) must
be arranged separately by Participants or Institutions.
When accepted by editors and after receiving positive reviews,
post-conference materials will be published in the form of e-book,
available in open access, in working languages of the conference. The
proceedings will be released in 2024 in the series Comparative Studies
of Language and Culture vol. 5.
