Description:

The University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez is currently looking for
candidates for a teaching and research tenured-track position in the
Linguistics and Cognitive Science Program at the Department of
Hispanic Studies.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
 - Have obtained a Ph.D. or equivalent in Linguistics or Cognitive
Science
 - Be able to show experience or high potential for excellence in
teaching, research and publishing in neurolinguistics, cognitive
neuroscience, computational linguistics, theoretical linguistics, or
any combination thereof;
 - Show potential and availability for teaching core and service
courses, such as research methods, Spanish grammar or academic
literacy;
 - Possess excellent communication skills and native or near-native
competence in Spanish and English. Knowledge and experience in a
high-level programming language (Python), probability and statistics
are also desirable.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The selected candidate will perform the following duties:
 - Teach graduate- and undergraduate-level courses in
neurolinguistics, cognitive science, neuroscience and other program
core courses, as well as some service courses should it be necessary;
 - Be available to preside or participate in graduate student
committees;
 - Develop and coordinate research projects in the aforementioned
areas, as well as mentoring activities for graduate and undergraduate
students;
 - Periodically publish and present their research in peer-reviewed
journals and conferences;
 - Procure and obtain external funding to promote the growth of
research activities;
 - Collaborate in the development of the academic offering through
revision or design of courses or curricular sequences; and
 - Participate in faculty committees and activities related to
assessment and continuous improvement, outreach and promotion, and
other services supporting the program and the institution.

The selected candidate must also work within a multidisciplinary
approach that includes science, technology, humanities, linguistics,
and cognitive science.

 - An updated Curriculum Vitae;
 - Official transcripts for all graduate and undergraduate studies;
 - An intention letter that lays out their intended teaching and
research plans;
 - Two (2) recent and relevant publications;
 - Copies of recent evaluations;
 - Three (3) professional references within the field; and
 - Three (3) professional recommendation letters (mainly from recent
immediate supervisors).
