Description:

The Department of World Languages and Cultures at North Carolina State
University invites applications for an Assistant Professor
(Tenure-track) with a specialization in Hispanic Linguistics beginning
in the 2024-2025 academic year.

The ideal candidate will specialize in Language Variation or related
subfields. Duties include teaching 2 courses per semester at the
undergraduate and graduate levels, including Introductory courses in
Hispanic Linguistics and topics courses/seminars in the candidate’s
area of specialty. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate
will demonstrate excellence and active engagement in research and will
be expected to supervise and mentor M.A. students as well as
participate in service activities related to the department, college,
and university.

Other Required Qualifications:

 - Ability to maintain a rigorous research agenda.
 - Ability to teach linguistics courses at all levels (undergraduate
and graduate).
 - Be prepared and able to supervise thesis projects and collaborate
with students in our M.A. program in World Languages.

Preferred Qualifications:

 - Strong dedication to and interest in research
 - Teaching experience at the University level
 - Demonstrated evidence of teaching excellence.

Instructions for Applicants:

Applicants must submit a cover letter, CV, Research Statement (maximum
2 pages), and the names and contact information for three professional
references.

Finalists will be asked to submit additional materials, including a
Statement of Teaching Philosophy (including a description of course
that the candidate would like to develop/teach, maximum 2 pages),
writing samples , and complete letters of recommendation.

The search committee will begin reviewing applications on November 20,
2023, and continue until the position is filled. Any inquires
