Call for Papers
Bridging the gap between construction grammar and discourse analysis:
teaching, research, and profession
University of Valencia (Spain)
October 23 – 25, 2024

We are delighted to announce that the University of Valencia’s
Interuniversity Institute for Applied Modern Languages (IULMA) will be
hosting the 4th International Conference Entretextos in Valencia
(Spain).
The theme of the Conference will be "Bridging the gap between
construction grammar and discourse analysis: teaching, research, and
profession".
Confirmed plenary speakers (in alphabetical order):
Dr. Massimiliano Demata – University of Turin (Italy)
Dr. Veronika Koller – Lancaster University (United Kingdom)
Dr. Miriam Locher – University of Basel (Switzerland)
Dr. Mark McGlashan – Birmingham City University (United Kingdom)
Dr. María Sandra Peña Cervel –University of La Rioja (Spain)

We welcome contributions addressing the main conference theme as well
as relating to the following specific topics:
1)      Languages for professional and academic purposes: research and
teaching.
2)      Specialized translation: teaching, research, and profession.
3)      Pragmatics and discourse analysis: specialized genres,
multimodality, discursive communities.
4)      New technologies applied to the study of genres, corpora, and
specialized translation.
5)      Corpus linguistics and its application in professional and
academic languages.
6)      Terminology, lexicology, and lexicography.
7)      Analysis of figurative language and Construction Grammar.

Instructions for submissions
Three types of proposals will be considered:
a)      Individual papers (20 minutes + 10 minute discussions)
b)      Panel proposals. Panels are to be designed according to a
particular topic of debate that is discussed amongst 3 (or more)
participants. The proposal should include:
(1) the title of the panel,
(2) the name(s) of the panel convenor and of intended participants,
and
(3) a summary by the panel convenor (300-500 words).

Panel convenors will be responsible for selecting the submitted
contributions. Individual panel contributions should be submitted as
individual papers to entretextos24 at uv.es, indicating the title of the
panel. All submitted abstracts will be forwarded to the panel convenor
for review and selection.
Submissions should be written according to the following guidelines:
•       Abstracts must contain 350-400 words, including title,
keywords, and references. The abstract must be sent to
entretextos24 at uv.es, together with a brief biodata (max. 50 words).
The list of references must follow APA style, 7th edition. All
author(s) should assign the paper to one of the 7 specific panels
mentioned above and indicate preferred type of presentation
(individual paper or panel contribution).
•       Presentations are accepted in English, Spanish and Catalan.
•       Each registered author can submit a maximum of 2 proposals
(either individual or shared with other author/s).
•       If you do not receive confirmation of submission within 24
hours, please contact us.

Notification of acceptance: July 15, 2024

Deadline for individual papers and panel contributions: May 1, 2024
Notification of acceptance: July 15, 2024

Deadline for early bird registration: September 15, 2024
Deadline for late registration: October 15, 2024

Venue: University of Valencia, Faculty of Philology, Translation and
Communication (Spain)

Publication
A selection of the papers from the conference will be published in a
book volume (Peter Lang, Q1 SPI), and two special issues of the
international peer-reviewed journals ESP Today - Journal of English
for Specific Purposes at Tertiary Level (Q1 - Scopus) and
Constructions and Frames (published by John Benjamins, Q2 – Scopus).
Papers will be subjected to external review. Further information will
be provided in due course.
