Description:

We are recruiting for a master's-level data scientist or PhD-level
postdoctoral fellow with an analytical/computational background.
Masters-level and phd-level candidates will be considered. The
official title for masters-level hires will be "Data Analyst" and the
title for postdocs will be "Postdoctoral Fellow". Our work uses
machine learning and natural language processing to develop digital
biomarkers for psychiatric disorders.

Lab description: PI: Sunny Tang, M.D. Ongoing projects use natural
language processing / human language technology and machine learning /
computational methods to characterize speech biomarkers and other
clinically relevant features in psychiatric disorders. For example,
recent and ongoing project include fine-tuning large language models
to automatically detect incoherence in the speech of people with
schizophrenia. Using co-reference analysis to identify ambiguous
references in speech. Extracting word and sentence embeddings from
language models as quantitative measures of disorganization. Training
and testing machine learning models to predict clinical outcomes like
diagnosis, relapse, and treatment response. Using cluster analysis and
graph models to detect feature categories among speech and language
measures.

Job specifics: Full time position. Hybrid vs. remote options possible.
Flexible schedule. Start date Jan-May 2024. Visa sponsorship possible.

Job Responsibility: Manage and run data through the lab’s
computational speech and language analysis pipeline. Run statistical
and machine learning analyses to understand psychiatric conditions.
Assist in project design. Contributions to manuscripts, presentations,
and funding applications dependent on applicant’s interest level and
abilities.

Job Qualifications:
Analytical background required including familiarity with Python and
R.

Prefer additional expertise with one or more of the following:
 - Natural language processing
 - Acoustic analysis
 - Machine learning
 - Graph analysis
 - Linguistics
