The University of Michigan is delighted to announce the tenth Formal
and Experimental Advances in Sign Language Theory conference (FEAST).
FEAST provides a forum to discuss theoretical advances in sign
language study and formal approaches to the study of sign language
linguistics (particularly within the generative tradition). We also
welcome research on experimental approaches to sign language study,
and on the acquisition of sign languages.

For its eleventh meeting, the conference will be hosted at the
University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI, August 6-8, 2024. Sponsors
for the conference include the University of Michigan Linguistics
Department and the Sign Language & Multi-Modal Communication Lab (PI:
Natasha Abner).

Call for Papers:

Abstracts may be in any area of formal or experimental sign language
research. We invite abstracts for 45-minute on-stage presentation
(30-minute presentation plus 15-minute Q&A) during the general session
as well as mini-presentations and/or research posters. No special
sessions are planned and all abstracts will be considered for each of
the presentation formats.

Abstract submission guidelines:
-Abstracts may be submitted in writing (English) or in video (ASL,
IS).
-Individuals are limited to submitting one single-authored abstract
and one co-authored abstract (no more than two total).
-Written abstracts must be no longer than two pages single-spaced
(including tables, examples, and references) with at least 12-point
font and 2.5cm/1in margins. Written abstracts should be submitted
anonymously and in PDF format.
-Video abstracts must be no longer than 5 minutes and presented in
either American Sign Language or International Sign. Video abstracts
may also be anonymized.
-Abstracts may only be submitted in written OR video format (not
both).

All abstracts will undergo double-blind review by an external panel.
