Meeting Description:

The 2024 Kaleidoscope 18th Annual Graduate Student Conference,
organized by graduate students of the Department of Spanish and
Portuguese of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, will host a two-day
interdepartmental event providing an open forum for undergraduates,
graduates, professors, and scholars to share ideas and research during
the dates of March 8th & 9th, 2024. Each day of the conference will
entail up to three panels of presentations in sessions moderated by
Ph.D. students and professors from the Department of Spanish and
Portuguese. Kaleidoscope will feature thematically integrated keynote
addresses from three renowned scholars in the areas of Spanish and
Portuguese literature and linguistics.

This year’s conference invites discussion around the breaking points,
processes and mutations that are capable of threatening or advancing
the current climate of social, technological, institutional and
ecocritical change and their implications within the study of
Lusobrazilian and Hispanic worlds. Kaleidoscope aspires to foster
meaningful collaboration between attendees, scholars, and speakers. We
hope to expand horizons from the exchange of knowledge, ideas and
experiences discussed at te event. Altogether, we aim for the two-fold
outcome of 1) furthering future research and 2) motivating awareness
and positive change in the fields of Spanish and Portuguese language,
literature, film, and culture.
