Engagement, characterized by the active participation of both students
and teachers, plays a pivotal role in shaping the success of language
teaching and learning. The conference aims to highlight the various
dimensions of engagement such as social, cognitive, behavioural, and
affective interactions. These components work in unison to enhance the
overall language learning experience, resulting in positive outcomes
for students.

Our esteemed keynote speakers, Prof. Rod Ellis (Curtin University,
Australia), Prof. Norbert Pachler (University College London, UK),
Prof. Boping Yuan (University of Cambridge, UK), and Prof. Glenn
Stockwell (Waseda University, Japan), will be sharing their expert
insights and research findings, adding immense value to the
proceedings.

Engagement in the Digital Age: International Conference on Language
Teaching and Learning, organized by the Language Centre of Hong Kong
Baptist University, highlights the crucial role of engagement in
determining the success of language teaching and learning. It focuses
on different facets of engagement, such as its social, cognitive,
behavioural, and affective dimensions. These dimensions synergize to
enhance the overall language learning experience, resulting in
positive outcomes for students. With technological advancement such as
AI, it becomes imperative to understand how technology enhances
engagement by providing interactive and personalized learning
experiences, fostering collaboration and communication, and offering
immediate feedback, and how the interplay between technology and
pedagogy can maximize language learning outcomes while promoting
equity, diversity
