Call Deadline: 15-Nov-2023

Meeting Description:

The Georgetown University Round Table on Languages and Linguistics
(GURT) is an annual academic conference that has been held at
Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. since 1949. GURT’s primary
aim is to provide a platform for scholars, researchers, and linguists
from around the world to come together and discuss a wide range of
topics related to language and linguistics. Each year’s conference has
a specific theme within the field, with presentations, panel
discussions, and roundtables organized around that theme. For its 75th
edition, GURT's theme is Education Abroad: Language, Learners, and
Communities.

Call for Papers:

We invite proposal submissions for:

    -Regular conference-style papers (20 mins presentation + 10 mins
discussion)
-Panels (60 or 90 minutes in length). Session organizers should
submit a proposal of no more than 500 words describing what kind of
session they would like to hold, the motivation for the session, who
will participate, and how the time will be used. Additional
participants should be listed as co-authors on the submission form.
-Posters: Presenters are expected to display posters (a brief text
mixed with some visuals including charts, graphs, tables, and
diagrams) that can facilitate discussion.

Submission Guidelines

Abstracts must be submitted by email to GURT at georgetown.edu by
November 15 and should be a maximum of 500 words in length.
References, tables, and figures may appear on a second page and are
not expected to exceed one page or 250 words.
    In the email indicate:
    – Full name of principal presenter and contact information:
affiliation, telephone, mailing address, email.
    – Special theme, if any.
    – Preference for 20-minute talk or poster presentation.
    – 3 to 5 keywords to assist the organizers in assigning reviewers.
    – A summary to be used as a brief description in the conference
program (50 word limit).
To preserve anonymity during the peer-review process, authors
should not include their names or reveal their identity anywhere in
the abstract, including the references and the document properties.
Any person may submit at most one single-authored paper, and an
author can appear as a first author once. However, there is no limit
to the number of co-authored abstracts one may submit, or to the
number of special sessions an individual may participate in.
