New Perspectives on Irish English 8
Cáceres, Spain, 16-18 May 2024

Call for Papers
Continuing the momentum of this international series of conferences
previously held in Ireland, Norway, Germany, and Austria, the Center
of Irish Studies in Cáceres (at the University of Extremadura) will
now bring the upcoming New Perspectives on Irish English 8 to Spain.
NPIE8 will be held from 16th to 18th May, 2024, in the beautiful
UNESCO World Heritage city of Cáceres
(https://turismo.caceres.es/en/node/17).

Apart from its historical interest, Cáceres will offer visitors
wonderful gastronomy, culture and nature, as evidenced by, among
others, the Roman city of Mérida (https://turismomerida.org/home/) and
the National Park of Monfragüe
(https://www.spain.info/en/nature/monfrague-national-park/), both of
which are a short drive away. As is tradition, the conference will
serve as a platform for Irish English scholars to discuss current
research issues pertaining to this field. The conference particularly
welcomes contributions on areas such as Irish English historical
linguistics, dialectology, pragmatics, corpus linguistics,
sociolinguistics, and/or literary/media representations, but it is not
restricted to these areas only.

The conference schedule will be able to accommodate non-parallel,
plenary sessions (20 mins. + 10 mins. discussion). Anonymous abstracts
(max. 300 words, not including references) should be sent in Word
format to: npie2024 at gmail.com. Please, include author name(s),
affiliation(s) and contact info in the email only.

Deadline extension: November 3rd, 2023.
Notification of acceptance: December 8th, 2023.

Further particulars will be circulated in early December. If you have
any questions, please, feel free to contact us at npie2024 at gmail.com

Best regards,
The organizing committee
