Applications are invited for an Associate/ Assistant Professor
position in Applied English Linguistics in the Department of English,
The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The Department seeks applicants
whose teaching and research have a strong grounding in one or both of
the following: multilingualism, digital humanities. The successful
candidate will deliver outstanding teaching and supervision of
undergraduate and postgraduate students, contribute to the life of the
Department and the Faculty by participating in seminars and taking on
administrative and advisory responsibilities, and engage in research
projects with societal impact.

Applicants should have: (i) a Ph.D. degree in Applied Linguistics or a
related field; (ii) a record of refereed publication, and (iii)
relevant undergraduate and postgraduate level teaching experience. For
appointment at the rank of Associate Professor, the following are
highly desirable: (i) a record of successful grant application; (ii)
experience in supervising and guiding research postgraduate students;
(iii) relevant administrative experience; and (iv) evidence of impact.

Appointments will normally be made on contract basis for up to three
years initially commencing August 2024, which, subject to mutual
agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation
later. For outstanding candidates at the Associate Professor level,
substantive appointment may be considered.
