Meeting Description:

The International Colloquium on the Teaching of French as a Foreign
Language ("Colloque FLE") is a biennial event jointly organized by
professors from the University of Puerto Rico (Rio Piedras), the
Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières and Princeton University, and
sponsored by the Asociación Puertorriqueña de Profesores de Francés
and the Department of Foreign Languages (Facultad de Humanidades,
Universidad de Puerto Rico). Every two years since 2009, the
conference has welcomed some 40 academics from different countries, as
well as professors and students from Puerto Rican universities and
schools. The upcoming edition of the conference will be held at the
University of Puerto Rico (Río Piedras) and at the Doubletree Hotel in
Condado (San Juan, Puerto Rico), from February 27 to March 1, 2025.

Le Colloque international sur l’enseignement du français langue
étrangère («Colloque FLE») est un événement biennal, organisé
conjointement par des professeurs de l’Université de Porto Rico (Rio
Piedras), de l’Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières et de
l’Université Princeton, et sponsorisé par l’Asociación Puertorriqueña
de Profesores de Francés et le Département de langues étrangères
(Facultad de Humanidades, Universidad de Puerto Rico). Depuis 2009, ce
colloque accueille à tous les deux ans une quarantaine
d’enseignants-chercheurs de différents pays, ainsi que des professeurs
et étudiants des universités et écoles portoricaines.

Call for Papers:

Conference Theme: Teaching French as a Foreign Language and Related
Issues: Breaking Down Barriers / Enseignement du français langue
étrangère et réalités connexes : décloisonnement
- Accommodation and support for students
- Regional varieties of French
- Artificial intelligence (AI) in language teaching
The organizing committee of the FLE 2025 conference is seeking
abstracts for presentations in its upcoming biennial conference. This
conference is aimed at specialists in the Teaching of French as a
Foreign Language (TFFL) or as a Second Language (TFSL). The conference
will provide an opportunity to examine complementary approaches to
language learning and teaching. Proposals for papers on the above and
related topics will be considered.
Your abstract must contain the following:
- a title of 100 characters maximum (including spaces);
- an abstract of 1500 to 2000 characters (spaces included) and
bibliography;
- first name, last name and affiliation;
- contact details (address, e-mail, telephone);
- mode of presentation (oral or poster);
- 1 page maximum;
- Please provide a brief description, 50 to 75 words (including
characters and spaces), for inclusion in the final program, if your
abstract is accepted.
The Conference will include oral presentations as well as poster
sessions. Please indicate your preference in your proposal. The
selection committee reserves the right to modify the indicated
preference. Abstracts are accepted in French, English and Spanish.
The conference will be in person.
First keynote speaker: Laura Abou Haidar, Université de Grenoble-Alpes
« Enseignement et apprentissage de l'oral en FLE : enjeux et défis. »
Second keynote speaker: Simon Collin, Université du Québec à Montréal
« Quand l’IA rencontre la classe de FLE : enjeux culturels et
didactiques »
Both keynote addresses will be in French. However, individual talks
may be presented in French, English, or Spanish.
