Meeting Description:

VII International Symposium of Linguist-Caucasologists will be held in
Tbilisi, on November 12-14, 2024. The symposium will be organized by
Arnold Chikobava Institute of Linguistics at Tbilisi State University.

Call for Papers:

We are pleased to announce that VII International Symposium of
Linguist-Caucasologists will be held in Tbilisi, on November 12-14,
2024. The Symposium will focus on the issues of word formation in the
languages of the Caucasus. The presentations will concern the issues
of word formation of the language or dialect of any language family
presented on the territory of the Caucasus. Word formation of any part
of speech will be discussed in both synchronic and diachronic aspects.

Topics:
- Theoretical issues of word formation.
- Structural and semantic analysis of affixal word formation.
- Structural and semantic analysis of compound word formation.
- Reduplication.
- Lexicalization.
- Other means of word formation.
- Onomasiological and semasiological aspects of word formation.
- Typology of word formation.
- Word formation and cognitive linguistics.
- Word formation and anthropological linguistics, ethnolinguistics.
- Word formation and areal linguistics.
- Comparative and contrastive study of word formation in different
languages and dialects.
- Word formation and specialized vocabulary.
- Word formation and terminology.
- Word formation and lexicography.
- Word formation and modern information-computer technologies – the
issues of data annotation, documentation, creation of databases, etc.

Abstracts (no more than 2 pages, size – A4, font style – Sylfaen, font
size - 12, line spacing – 1.5) should be submitted with the personal
information of the participant (See the form below).
Abstract titles should be formatted according to the sample below:

Abstracts should be submitted to the organizing committee at Arnold
Chikobava Institute of Linguistics at TSU (8 Ingorokva St., Tbilisi,

symposiumtbilisi at gmail.com until July 31.

The working languages of the symposium: Georgian, English, Russian.
Additional Information will be provided after the submission of
abstracts.
