Description:

The Faculty of Modern Languages at Goethe University, Frankfurt
invites applications for a position as postdoctoral researcher (m/f/d)
(E 13 TV-G-U) to be filled by April,1st 2024 within the project
“Discourse matters? The role of discourse relations and type of events
in child production and comprehension of sentence negation”. The
project explores the extent to which discourse facilitates the
comprehension and processing of negative sentences among German
monolingual children ranging in age between 3 and 5 years. It is part
of the CRC 1629 "Negation in Language and Beyond (NegLaB)". The
position will be non-permanent until December, 31st, 2027. The salary
grade is based on the job characteristics of the collective agreement
(TV-G-U) applicable to Goethe University.

Tasks

We are searching for a highly motivated and qualified postdoctoral
researcher with research interests in the area of psycholinguistics
and language acquisition with a strong experimental background. The
successful candidate is expected to: i) design, conduct and analyze
eye-tracking experiments, ii) coordinate the team involved in data
collection and data analysis, iii) present the results of the work in
international conferences and publications, iv) establish
collaborations with other projects within the CRC, v) participate in
the scientific events organized within the CRC.

We offer a very stimulating and innovative research environment with
international contacts and several facilities for professional and
personal development. The opportunity for academic qualification
(Habilitation) and independent research will be provided.

Requirements

Applicants should hold a doctoral degree in psycho-/neurolinguistics,
language acquisition or cognitive science. They should have experience
in designing, conducting and analyzing eye-tracking experiments,
excellent programming skills and excellent knowledge of statistics.
They should show great ability to work in a team and open-mindedness
towards new research ideas. Academic proficiency in English is
required, and some knowledge of German is desirable.
