Description:

The Department of French and Italian at The University of Texas at
Austin seeks to hire an Advanced Assistant/Associate Professor of
Instruction. The position begins in the fall semester of the academic
year 2024-2025. This is a renewable, non-tenure track position. We are
looking for an experienced educator with established competence in
language pedagogy, technology-assisted instruction, and knowledge of
current issues and methods in the teaching and learning of French as a
second language. The position requires the teaching of elementary and
intermediate French language courses, in-person, hybrid and online, as
well as supervising and mentoring graduate student teaching
assistants.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in French or a related field, with
specialization in second language acquisition, foreign language
education, or applied linguistic, and have native or near-native
fluency in French. Preference will be given to candidates who can
demonstrate excellence in French language teaching, experience in
course supervision and/or language program coordination, research
interests in innovative approaches to second language pedagogy,
curriculum development, teacher education, and language technology.

Rank and salary dependent upon experience and qualifications. Position
funding is subject to budget availability.

terminal degrees in their discipline capable of reflecting on the
applicant’s teaching experience and abilities.
