CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT

We are very pleased to announce that the 5th Experimental Pragmatics
in Italy Conference (XPRAG.it 2024) will be hosted by the San Camillo
Hospital IRCCS – Venice Lido (Italy) on September 26-27, 2024.

The XPRAG.it 2024 Conference is organized under the auspices of
XPRAG.it, a research network founded in 2017, with the aim of
providing an Italian venue for discussing – at the international level
– empirical research on pragmatic processing.

Call for Papers
We invite submissions of abstracts in any area of experimental
pragmatics, including neuropragmatics, developmental pragmatics, and
clinical pragmatics, as well as pragmatics in multimodal communication
and formal/computational approaches to pragmatics.

Three types of submissions will be accepted:
- Oral presentation
- Poster presentation
- Pre-registration poster
Pre-registration posters offer the opportunity to present plans for
studies yet to be undertaken, rather than work that has been already
completed.

XPRAG.it Young Researcher Award
XPRAG.it 2024 Conference offers the XPRAG.it Young Researcher Award
granted by the Organizing Committee to the best presentation (of any
type) from a PhD or early post-doc (no more than 2 years from PhD).
This year the award is dedicated to the memory of Bruno Bara (1949 -
2023) for his seminal contributions to the field of cognitive
pragmatics.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION AND NOTIFICATIONS
Abstract submission deadline: April 30, 2024, by midnight Central
European Time (23:59 CET).
We expect to make notifications of acceptance by mid-June, 2024.

The abstract submission platform will open at the end of February and
will be accessible via the conference website. The link will be
available soon.

After the successful experience of XPRAG.it 2020(21), this year we
planned three Pre-Conference Workshops on methodological aspects,
scheduled on September 25, 2024:

- Distributional semantics for clinical linguistics studies
Chiara Barattieri di San Pietro, University School for Advanced
Studies IUSS (Pavia, Italy)
- Pragmatic assessment and pragmatic training: Tools, procedures, and
data from typical and atypical samples
Ilaria Gabbatore, University of Turin (Turin, Italy)
- EEG hands-on and tricks for better design
Sara Zago, San Camillo IRCCS Hospital (Venice Lido, Italy)

Please note that each workshop can accommodate only a limited number
of participants (approximately 12 each).
