Call for Papers:

General Call for Articles / Invitation for Special Issue Proposals

The Heritage Language Journal (HLJ) solicits contributions for its
general issue or for special issue proposals that focus on concerns
important to research and pedagogy in the field of heritage languages.

The HLJ was established in 2002 by the National Heritage Language
Resource Center at the University of California, Los Angeles. Its aim
is to provide a forum for scholars to disseminate research and
knowledge about heritage and community languages. The journal seeks
submissions for original research studies and book reviews that focus
on acquisition, use and pedagogy of heritage and community languages
from any of the following perspectives:

● applied linguistics
● theoretical linguistics
● sociolinguistics
● language pedagogy
● language policy
● other relevant fields

Peer Review Policy: All articles published in the HLJ undergo a
double-blind peer review process. This includes articles published in
special issues.

General Issue Timeline: The journal is published through Brill
Publishers continuously. Once an article has been approved for
publication by the editors, it is published immediately.

Submission Guidelines:
Article manuscripts should be a minimum of 8,000 words and not exceed
10,000 words, including all tables, references, and appendices. Book
reviews should be 4,000 words or less. For more information on
submission guidelines, consult the HLJ website at https://brill.com/fi
leasset/downloads_products/Author_Instructions/HLJ.pdf

All questions about the general or special issues should be directed
to the Editor-in-Chief, Rajiv Rao, rgrao at wisc.edu.
