Meeting Description:

The International Association for Teaching Pragmatics (ITAP) is
pleased to announce the ITAP Annual Conference 2024 which will be held
in blended format (online and at Universitat de Barcelona) on June 21,
2024.

The main theme of the conference will be Pragmatics across different
educational stages (Infant, Primary, Secondary, Adult). The following
scholars have accepted to be the keynote speakers:
Dr Naoko Taguchi (Northern Arizona University, USA)
Dr Milica Savic (University of Stavanger, Norway)

Call for Papers:

1. Conference Presentation Types:
Presentations must be in English and should address any of the
subjects in the list of topics below.
A) Individual oral presentations
These must be 20-minute oral presentations, followed by 10 minutes for
questions and discussion. These include research papers or classroom
experiences focusing on teaching methodologies. Presentations should
be practical-oriented and prepared with the aim of addressing a wide
audience.
B) Workshops
These must be 30-minute hands-on sessions which should include a
variety of practical activities in order to engage the audience in the
session.
C) Ph.D. students’ oral presentations
These must be 20-minute oral presentations, followed by 10 minutes for
questions and discussion. This time slot will be devoted to Ph.D.
students that are currently carrying out their research on pragmatics
in different educational stages. In this session students will be able
to share their current work and also get feedback from well-known
scholars in the field.

2. Conference Topics:
The presentations and workshops may include the following topics, but
other topics related to the conference’s theme will be welcome:
- Classroom studies or teaching practices on learners’ L2 pragmatic
awareness in infant/primary/secondary/adult education.
- Classroom studies or teaching practices on learners’ L2 pragmatic
production in infant/primary/secondary/adult education.
- Effects of methodological proposals for teaching L2 pragmatics in
infant/primary/secondary/adult education.
- Studies or teaching practices on the implementation of resources for
teaching L2 pragmatics in infant/primary/secondary/adult education.
- Teacher education studies in infant/primary/secondary/adult
instructional contexts.

3. Submissions:
All proposals should be submitted via email:
itap.association at gmail.com
Please make sure that your submission includes the following
information:
- Abstract no longer than 300 words. Please name this file
“Abstract_Surname” (format Word/pdf file, Times New Roman 12).
- Data file containing the Author/s’ name(s) and affiliation(s), the
title of the paper, the type of submission (individual oral
presentation, workshop or PhD presentation), the email address(es),
and equipment required if the presentation is intended to be at the
University of Barcelona premises. Please name this file “Data_Surname”
(format Word/pdf file).

4. Important dates:
- ONLINE ABSTRACT SUBMISSIONS: DEADLINE March 15th, 2024
- Notification of acceptance: April 15 th, 2024
- Registration: From April 15th to May 15th, 2024
