Description:

The Department of Language and Linguistic Science is looking to
appoint a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) specialising in theoretical
and comparative syntax, complementing the department’s strengths in
morphology, semantics, typology,  language variation and language
change and interfacing with these areas. The department additionally
has interests in  computational and experimental approaches and
language acquisition.

Duties will include research, publication, convening and teaching
modules at all levels of the BA, BSc, MA and MSc programmes of the
Department, (co-)supervision of Masters and PhD students, and
administrative roles as required within the Department. The successful
candidate will be able to develop new modules and adapt existing ones
in line with their research strengths. High-quality research and
publications (appropriate to career stage) are also expected.

Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

You will hold a PhD in Linguistics with a specialisation in syntax
and/or its interfaces, together with the ability to deliver teaching
and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and to
publish high quality outputs in appropriate venues. The ability to
work constructively and flexibly with colleagues is essential, as are
good organisational and communication skills.
