Description:

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Chicago invites
applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher at the rank of Instructor
in Syntax. The selected candidate will pursue their research agenda
under the guidance of a faculty mentor and will participate in the
intellectual life of the department, including by delivering public
presentations of their scholarship. The Instructor will also be
expected to teach four courses per year at both undergraduate and
graduate levels, including courses in syntax and other related areas,
as well as Core courses in the Humanities, and to serve as an adviser
and/or mentor to undergraduate and doctoral students in the
department. The expected start date is September 1, 2024, or as soon
as possible thereafter. The initial appointment will be made for a
two-year term, renewable up to one additional year following
successful review.

Qualifications:

We seek scholars with a specialty in syntax with strong research
abilities. Previous teaching experience at the university level is
highly desired. The successful candidate must have completed the
requirements for a Ph.D. in Linguistics or a related field by the
start of the appointment.
