Meeting Description:

Following on from the last conferences of the Association Française de
Linguistique Appliquée: CRELA 2013, TRELA 2015, PRELA 2019, AILA 2023
- NéALA 2025 aims to examine the shift between the natural and the
artificial in applied linguistics. This link may be perceived as an
opposition, an interdependence, a complementarity or even a
transformation which may require a critical scientific analysis. The
emergence of large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT formulating
credible answers has plunged the world into wonder on the one hand and
panic on the other, undermining the place of human creativity. What is
really going on? What role can applied linguistics play?
