Meeting Description:

Bringing together students from various linguistics disciplines, the
Studentische Tagung Sprachwissenschaft / Student Conference on
Linguistics (StuTS) has been a recurring event since 1987, held
biannually at different European universities. It acts as both a
networking platform and an introduction to the academic conference
realm.

During this semester from May 9th to 12th, the 75th StuTS will now
take place in Graz, Austria, for the first time since 1991. We, from
the Linguistics Student Representation and the Association of
Linguistics Students in Graz, are already looking forward to it and
hope for an exciting conference!

The conference, centered on presentations, workshops, and poster
sessions led by students, aims to foster learning and collaboration.
Established scholars from the host university are also invited as
keynote speakers. Additionally, there is a social program where
everyone can engage in discussions and networking. Teams of student
volunteers from the university coordinate the organization of the
conference. Traditionally, participants receive accommodation,
breakfast, and lunch for a small fee (35€).

Registration is currently open until April 14th at
https://anmeldung.stuts.de/stuts75_en.

Call for Papers:

We invite all students of linguistics and related disciplines and all
levels of study to participate in the 75th StuTS in Graz. All
participants are welcome to present some of their work. This may be a
term paper, a Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis, or any other project you
are currently working on. Everything is welcome - whether it is your
first time at the StuTS or you are a StuTS regular. We also want to
encourage you to present cooperative projects together with your
colleagues. Presentations should be within the broader field of
linguistics which includes, for example, translation studies. You can
present your work in the form of a poster or give a talk. Workshops
where you share your knowledge of a language or a tool/programme with
fellow students are also welcome.

Time slots for talks are 30 minutes (20 minutes presentation in German
or English + 10 minutes discussion) and workshops should fill slots of
1 hour. The title of the talk/workshop/poster and an abstract (English
or German) of max. 300 words should be submitted via the platform Frab
(https://talks.stuts.de/en/stuts75/cfp!). Please include the language
of presentation as well as the linguistic subfield (psycholinguistics,
sociolinguistics, syntax etc.) in your abstract. If you wish to
present in a language other than English or German, please keep in
mind that other languages might not be accessible for most
participants, however if you want to present in a sign language or
another minority language, please contact us via mail
(stuts75 at stuts.de).

We are looking forward to welcoming you in Graz!
