Subject: Fund Drive 2024: Mirrors and Reflections


Dear LINGUIST List,

It’s officially Fund Drive 2024! And like every year during our Fund
Drive, we are excited to bring you some exceptional content!

But... the LINGUIST List is at a difficult moment in its 35 years of
history. Its future is uncertain.

We need to reach our fund-raising goal of $30,000 to guarantee that
the LINGUIST List can continue beyond June of this year. At this
moment, we have around 20,000 subscribers on the List. If each
subscriber donated just $2, we would easily achieve—even surpass—this
goal!

By contributing, you are ensuring the accessibility of linguistic
content for not just yourself but those who rely on this information
to stay up-to-date in the field.

This year, our Fund Drive theme is "Mirrors and Reflections." It
symbolizes a moment of introspection for us all, prompting us to
contemplate our collective journey and envision the path ahead.

Throughout the Fund Drive, our Featured Linguists will delve into this
theme, offering profound reflections on their experiences and
contributions to the field. We're also delighted to introduce you to
some Rising Stars – talented young linguists whose passion and
potential illuminate the future of linguistics.

Over the next few weeks, we will continue to look for mirror images
and reflections in linguistic theories and linguistic jokes.

Thank you for being a vital part of our linguistic community and for
helping us spread the word about our Fund Drive. Together, we can
uphold linguistic excellence and ensure that the mirrors of knowledge
and reflection continue to illuminate our path forward.
