Focus: The main focus of the Virtual School is in applied knowledge
about experimental methodologies to study voice, speech, language and
behaviour, following a hands-on approach.
Minimum Education Level: No minimum education level required
Description:
This is the third edition of vTEM (Virtual Training in Experimental
Methods),
an online training program in current methods in experimental
linguistics,
phonetics and psycholinguistics, organized by the Phonetics and
Phonology
Laboratory and Lisbon Baby Lab.
vTEM is directed at undergraduate and graduate students, researchers
interested in voice, speech, language and language related areas
(including
language development and language impairments), as well as
professionals
(educators, teachers, psychologists, audiologists, speech therapists,
among
others).
vTEM takes a hands-on training approach and covers the following
topics/methods:
Course I - Praat and acoustic analysis
Course II - Advanced Praat
Course III - ELAN
Course IV - Advanced ELAN
Course V - Studying perception: SuperLab
Course VI - Studying perception: E-Prime
Course VII - Studying perception: Open Sesame
Course VIII - Studying perception: Online tools
vTEM III offers two different modalities: (i) with hands-on session;
(ii) without hands-on session
Modality (i):
Contact hours: 10h
2h: technical support for software installation
6h: hands-on session
2h: evaluation (optional)
Total hours per course: 56h
Modality (ii):
Video tutorials and other materials are made available over each
course duration. The team will provide technical support (if needed)
for each course.
Courses are taught in English.

have a discount of 30%
*Other students from ULisboa have a discount of 20%
