Multimodality and Interactional Humor - Methods and Theories (Works in
Progress)

The Multimodality and Interactional Humor SIG aims at fostering
discussions, research collaborations, and methodological innovation
around the multimodal study of interactional humor. Because this is an
inherently interdisciplinary area that has experienced a lot of growth
in recent years, scholars have at their disposal a wide array of
methodological options. To help members explore new research
approaches, methods, and instruments, we are organizing an online
panel focused on works-in-progress. We invite researchers at any stage
of their career to share their works in progress, ranging from initial
conceptualizations to ongoing analyses, with the goal of discussing
different theoretical frameworks and methodological decisions and
issues.

We are particularly interested in submissions that focus on one or
more of the following:

Using or adapting research tools to study multimodal aspects of humor
(i.e., gestures, the face)
Building or using multimodal corpora
Different (inter)disciplinary approaches to study multimodal aspects
of humor
Please submit an abstract (max. 500 words not including references,
tables, or figures) to elisag at umd.edu and
beatrice.priego-valverde at univ-amu.fr by April 15th, 2024.

Webinar Date: May 24, 2024

Submission Deadline: April 15, 2024

Notification of Acceptance: May 1, 2024
