This person will work on the development of the Greek-to-English translation
system, and particularly on the English target language. This includes the
coding of
words and expressions in electronic dictionaries and the maintenance and

Profile :
- native English
- excellent knowledge of (modern) Greek
- university degree in philology, linguistics, languages, computational
linguistics or

programme "Professional Communication and New Digital Media"
starting September 1, 2000. In relation with this programme, the
faculty now has a vacancy for:


LECTURER IN PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATION AND NEW
DIGITAL MEDIA (full-time)


Candidates must be able to make a contribution to:

- the development of teaching materials and courses in the fields of
digital business communication and new media technology (for a
draft of the programme see: http://let.kub.nl/bdm );

- developing and implementing computer-based facilities for
teaching and instruction;

- setting up and carrying out (contract) research in the field of
professional communication and new digital media.


Candidates must meet the following requirements:

- a master's degree in one of the subdisciplines of linguistics
(e.g., language and information science, discourse studies, alpha
informatics, communication studies);

- strong affinity with, and familiarity with, recent developments in
the field of digital media, either technically (design, techniques,
implementation) or organizationally (management, making and
implementing media policies in organizations);

- broad deployability in instructional and organizational tasks;

- demonstrable didactic qualities.


Further particulars:

- The faculty has a strong preference for a candidate with a PhD
and with research experience in a subject relevant to the new
programme.

- In principle, the contract will be for a four-year period. The
availability of a tenure position will depend on the evaluation of the
new
programme that will then take place.

- Formally, employment will be either at the Department of
Language and Information Science or at that of Discourse Studies,
depending on the research affinity.


Salary

Pay classification is according to level of experience and expertise,
with
a maximum of Dfl. 8,429.- per month (salary scale 12).
