The "Digital Language Learning (DLL)" project is an international
research project led by the University of Louvain within the framework
of the European Network of Excellence (NoE) Kaleidoscope
(http://www.noe-kaleidoscope.org). The general aim of the project is
to develop applications that integrate Natural Language Processing,
Computer Corpus Research and Language Didactics. At Louvain the
project is led by two research centres working in close collaboration:
the Centre for English Corpus Linguistics (CECL) (project leader) and
the Centre de Traitement Automatique du Langage (CENTAL)

Applications are invited for a

12 month research position
as of January 2006

The ideal candidate:

* has a Master degree in Computational linguistics, Linguistics or
Computer science (or another relevant discipline);
* has experience in Natural Language Processing and/or Computer
Assisted Language Learning;
* is a good programmer, with relevant experience in Web programming
(Php/MySql/Java/Perl/Python) and/or in the development of NLP
applications.
* has a good knowledge of one/several Learning Management System(s)
(Moodle, Claroline, WebCT, etc.)
* has a very good command of English (writing and speaking) and French
* and a very good team spirit !

The successful candidate will participate in:
* the design and development of an NLP-based glossary to be integrated
into a Learning Management System
* the design and development of a Digital Language Learning module to
be integrated into the Kaleidoscope Virtual Doctoral School.

The researcher will work at the University of Louvain, in a very
stimulating and challenging environment and will collaborate with both
CECL and CENTAL teams (20 people).
