The Constraints and Machine Learning research group at the Laboratoire
LIFO (http://www.univ-orleans.fr/lifo/) of the University of Orléans
(France) is seeking post doctoral candidates with background in Text
Mining and Knowledge Discovery for a one year appointment starting at
the latest in January 2011.


The research project :
=====================================================

The post doctoral position will take place in a bilateral research
project with the University of Beira Interior (Portugal). The project
concerns the development of new approaches to build a prototype-based
ontology from the observation of co-occurrences of terms inside a
corpus. We use the formalism of Pretopology to model the degree of
generality/specificity as well as the semantic closeness between terms
based on asymmetric similarities.


The prospective candidates must:
=====================================================

* have a PhD in Computer Science
* not have the French citizenship
* have knowledge in the theoretical and practical aspects of one or
  more of the following:

 - Knowledge discovery from texts
 - Information Retrieval
 - Clustering and categorization
 - Graph models for data analysis

* have well-developed social skills directed to work in a team
* have a good command of English


The position offers:

* a full time appointment for a period of 12 months
* about 1900 euros net monthly salary
