The Department for Computational Linguistics of the
Heinrich-Heine-Universitaet Duesseldorf, Germany (Chair of Computational
Linguistics: Prof. Dr. Laura Kallmeyer) offers a position as
wissenschaftliche/r Mitarbeiter/in (TV-L E13 100%) for a postdoc or an
advanced doctoral student.

The position starts in October 2012. Its duration is limited to two
years, maybe with the possibility of an extension. It includes 4 hours
of teaching per week in computational linguistics. Teaching is supposed
to be in German, if not immediately, then after a short time. Therefore,
if the candidate does not speak German yet, he/she should be willing to
learn and practice it.

The candidate should preferably have some teaching experience and should
be willing to participate in the research activities conducted at the
Department for Computational Linguistics. These cover the following
areas:

1. data-driven parsing
2. statistical machine translation
3. syntax-semantics interface, in particular (but not limited to)
   frame-based (i.e., feature-structure-based) semantic composition
4. grammar formalisms, in particular (but not limited to) Tree Adjoining
  Grammars

The Department for Computational Linguistics offers a rich and
stimulating research environment: It participates with several projects
in the Collaborative Research Center (CRC) 991 funded by the DFG,

collection of research projects; it focusses on the structure of
representations in language, cognition and science with a particular
emphasis on frames and on lexical semantics. Besides the CRC projects
there is also a project on parsing and machine translation,

Salary is on the German scale TV-L E13. The position is for two
years. The starting date is October 1, 2012.
