EXCURSION and DINNER (http://cs.smu.ca/~ciaa2013/excursion.html)
Join your kilted guide and head to Peggy's Cove - an artists' and
explorers' paradise for well over 150 years. This famed village on the
rugged Atlantic Shoreline stands on solid rock above the crashing
surf. The coastline is famous for pirates, shipwrecks, sunsets and the
one of the most photographed lighthouses in the world. There will be
plenty of time for exploring this unique area, and for those who wish,
your guide will take you on a walking tour of the moody cove and
village.
Return to Halifax and enjoy a history and anecdote-filled ride through
the streets of Halifax which will introduce you to one of North
America's most unique and captivating destinations. Hear of the days of
rum-running and privateering, Halifax during the war years, and the
exploits and the heroism of the citizens that lived through the
devastating Halifax Explosion in 1917. Your excursion includes a picture
stop at Citadel Hill and the Old Town Clock, as well as a visit to the
Titanic Burial Site at the Fairview Lawn Cemetery where you will learn
about our connection to this disaster.
Next, an unforgettable dining experience awaits as we step aboard the
Harbour Queen I where we will savour a delicious buffet dinner and
cruise along the beautiful and picturesque harbourside.
