Nee, it is sa dat "buan" besibbe is oan Nederlânsk "bouwen", Frysk "bouwe",
yn beide gefallen mei [u] > [ou], in normaal proses foar it Frysk (ko < *ku
esfh) en dat yn it Nederlânsk foar [w] barde, wy meie dus u'tgean fan
*buwan foar it âldere Nederlânsk.

"dwell" liket my net besibbe oan "dweilen". "dweil" (ek Frysk) is ûntstean
u't *thwagila, mei omlûd fan a nei e en (yngveoanske) "ege > ei"-feroaring.
De g is net werom te finen yn "dwell". Boppedat soe in âldgermaanske th- as
th yn it Ingelsk te finen we^ze (meast in t, soms in d yn it Frysk).

Faaks is in konneksje mei "dwalen" Frysk "dwale" of "dwylje" en sokke
wurden mûglik?

It would appear to me more likely that 'buan' is related to
Scandinavian 'bo' (live, dwell).

These seem remarkably similar to the word for "live" in Welsh (a Celtic
language): "byw" [bju:], which I assume must be related to the Gaelic
equivalent "beatha" (as in "uisge beatha" - water of life). Ancient
etymology?

Could the word "bide" (common in Scots and in many English dialects) be
related?
