ZWEITER PLATTDÜÜTSCH-DAG AUF DER HAMBURG-WELLE

Die Hamburg-Welle des Norddeutschen Rundfunks steht am Mittwoch, 12. Januar,

WEITERE INFORMATIONEN gibt Gerd Spiekermann beim NDR, Hamburg, Tel. (040) 415
62 64.

SECOND "PLATTDÜÜTSCH-DAG" AT "HAMBURG-WELLE"

"Hamburg-Welle" ["Hamburg Wave"] of the North German Broadcasting Corporation
will be presenting itself in Low German (Low Saxon) all day on Wednesday,
January 12, starting early in the morning and ending at night. This is the
second time the local radio station will broadcast its entire programming on a
"Plattdüütsch-Dag" [Low German Day]. This broadcasting format had been tried
out successfully for the first time four months ago, in October. The January
edition is supposed to be more consistent: program moderation will be entirely
in Low German, beginning at 5:30 a.m. and ending at 10:00 p.m. All day there
will be Low German music -- ranging from Richard Germer via Jochen Wiegandt to
Godewind. Also, there will be reports, telephone interviews, etc., mostly in
Low German. Last time the Low German connection was obvious: the focus was on
the [Low Saxon language] Ohnsorg Theater. Next time it will be on Hagenbeck
[Zoo, Hamburg] and on the Open-Air Museum Kiekeberg [Kreismuseum des
Landkreises Harburg, Am Kiekeberg 1, 21224 Rosengarten-Ehestorf, Germany, Tel:
040/79 01 76-0, Fax: 040/7 92 64 64].

FURTHER INFORMATION from Gerd Spiekermann at NDR, Hamburg, Tel. (040) 415 62
64.
