Het Belang van Limburg of August 11 has half a page about a marriage of  2
ordinary people, who actually are in no way responsible for the publicity.
The girl accidentally lives in Herstappe, and that's the issue.

Herstappe is a little municipality in the South of Belgian Limburg,
directly adjacent to the language border. When this country was split-up in

linguistically homogeneous regions, Herstappe had a strong Walloon
minority, and became one of the special municipalities at the language
border, that have to provide services in the other language upon individual

demand.

In the mid seventies we had big operation, merging municipalities into
economically viable entities. Herstappe could not participate in these
operations, since it has no adjacent municipality, subject to a very same
administrative law system.

Herstappe has 84 inhabitants, 2 streets with in total 30 houses. The
municipal secretary is shared with the municipality of Voeren, that has a
similar regime (but is situated at a distance of about 20 miles)

The reason the marriage is coming in the newspaper is because it's 3 years
ago that Herstappe had an other marriage.

Anne Pirson (22) will marry Jérôme Richy (25) from Huy (Hoei) on Saturday
August 19 in Herstappe, Belgian Limburg.  Be there!
