Subject: etymology

In mijn Limburgs zegt men "momber " voor "voogd".

Ik dacht dat dit een Romaans leenwoord was, maar vind in een boek uit Luik
(F-X Nève, Binamée Liège, Dictionnaire des Gens, des Choses et des Mots,
2000, Brussels, Ed. Luc Pire): MAMBOUR: mot d'origine gemanique qui
signifie tuteur, régent...

In de Limbugse woordenboeken vind ik dan eens "momber", dan weer "mommer".
In het woordenboek van Zonhoven geeft men volgende etymologie:
momber, mommer: m (s): "voogd": mnl. mombore, Kil. momboor, momber, tutor
(samentrekking van mnl. mont "macht, bevoegdheid" + baren (ohd. beran)
"dragen").

Heeft dit woord nog een ruimer gebruik dan enkel in Limburgse dialecten?
