The Brits took most, but not all. Actually the mandate for German New Guinea
went to Australia, and that of German Samoa to New Zealand. South Africa got
the mandate over German South-West Africa (now Namibia), whereas Cameroon
and Togo went to Britain and France. Japan got the mandate over the Marshall
Islands, the Marianas, and the Caroline Islands (after all, in WW I Japan was
on the allied side). Belgium got Rwanda-Urundi; now Rwanda and Burundi.
