Subject: LL-L Plat [E] [D]

I am interested in the development of the English 'plat', which the OED
(sb3) says is a variant of Plot. The second meaning, 'a plan or diagram
of anything' occurs with the plat spelling before the plot spelling - in
1511-12.

Since I'm interested in the contacts between Lowlands and English-
speaking builders at this time, the possibility of influence from the
Dutch interests me. How old is platte-grond as a form? Is plat or
platte known on its own to mean 'map, plan, diagram'?

Best wishes to all,

Subject: LL-L: North Carolina

I am exploring the effect of Lowland Cultures on North Carolina, and
would be interested in anyone studying the affects of Lowland linguistic
or material culture (particularly buildings). I have read about the
Mulberry house, which uses short wall ties (ankers), and additional
information would be very welcome.
