I'm sure you're right, but Pepijn wrote "Strictly linguistically spoken"
and
I was trying to clarify what strict _linguistic_ criteria would make Dutch
and High German both "German" and prevent them from being separate
languages. The practices of the linguistic commissars who run academic
institutions are no more relevant to this than those of the Soviet
commissars who decided which languages ethnic minorities spoke. Eller hur?
