They may do, especially as the name "Britain" isn't very well-defined
nowadays anyway.

On top of that, many British people are quite poorly-educated about
how the UK came to exist, about the relationships between it and
its dependent territories, and between the nations within it.

For example, during the Falkland Islands war in 1982 I was living
in London, where I sometimes heard people trying to insist
that the islands concerned were "part of England".
