You are in luck, I am from Rijssen, VERY close to Elsen.

could also be a rural area near Elsen, but I've never heard of the name

Dutch:          elzeboom, els
Low Saxon (NL): els
Low Saxon (D):  Eller
German:         Erle
Scots:          aller
English:        alder
Frisian:        ?
