Randy, as far as I know, it's like this:

Frisian (masculine): _frison_
Frisian (feminine): _frisonne_
Frisian (language): _le frison_, _la langue frisonne_
Friesland: _La Frise_

Of course, you'd then have to ask, "Quelle Frise?"  Sure, you have the
option of talking about one (united) Friesland instead of the now
fashionable "Frieslands," just as long as you don't forget that the north
of the Netherlands is not the only Friesland, as is so often ignored to the
chagrin of the "poor" Frisian cousins in Germany.

Westerlauwers ("Western") Friesland (_La Frise de l'ouest_) in the
Netherlands now wants to be known by its native name even in other
languages: _Fryslân_ (similar to now having to say _Mumbai_ for Bombay and
_Myanmar_ for Burma).  Then there is Eastern Friesland in Germany: _La
Frise de l'est_.  Also in Germany is Northern Friesland: _La Frise du
nord_.
