I quoted what I was sent. I'll ask if that was a typo or whether the version
quoted has KNOW.

My Burns edition gives 'knot'.
The Poetical Works of Robert Burns. With Notes and Glossary by Robert Ford.
Collins' Clear-Type Press. London and Glasgow. No idea when it was
published.
