jim mason here,

glad to see you all found the rosetta project online archive. and glad to
see it captured your imagination- as well as ire for our mistakes . . .;-)
we know we have lots of mistakes. we are working with a global sample of
languages, of which we can be "expert" in only a few. that's why we built
this online archive and collaborative environment. it is an open platform
for specialists on particiular languages to offer their expertise through
review comments and text contributions. we are trying to build a
publically
accessible onlive archive of 1,000 languages through voluntary
contributions
and peer review, which can only be done as a global collaboration between
many language specialists. as we are just at the beginning (the site has
only been online one month) there is lots of work to do and launch bugs to
work out.

i'm thrilled to hear you would like to participate for lowlands languages.
we are very much in need of text contributions for the components listed on

the site. see www.rosettaproject.org

a little more context for the previous comments. all our naming and
metadata claims (countries where spoken, language/dialect distinctions) are

based on the SIL ethnologue. the site is structured around their naming
and
description standards. and those standards are far from perfect. they
have
a review process in place to update and fix their entries, and we also take

the same suggestions. the descriptions we link to are currently the
ethnologue 13th ed which is 4 years out of date. sil is supposed to launch

their 14th ed in several weeks, at which time we will link to the updated
14th ed.

thanks again for your interest. i look forward to hearing more. and in
particular, i encourage you to direct your comments to the comment areas
attached to each text in the database. we follow those closely and act
accordingly . . .

cheers,

jim
