I think in Scots we have the choice between borrowing the
modern English word "guidelines":

Scots (Mainland): "Rules an Guidelines (in English)"

or reviving an older word (though much used in the literature,
eg in Sir Walter Scott's books, so not inappropriate as written
Scots):

Scots (Mainland): "Rules an Wycins (in English)"

To "wyce" somebody is to guide them in a particular direction.

In Low Saxon (Mennonite, Plautdietsch):
Widely used words would be: 'Raeajle un Rechtlienjes.'

Cheers!

Thank you very much for the help so far, folks. I'll add those phrases
to the pages as I go.

By the way, there is a good chance that tomorrow or another day very
soon there will be a brief hiatus on Lowlands-L. The computer from
which I send you most issues is going to be replaced with a
brand-spanking new one as soon as there is a chance. As you all know,
operations of that sort rarely go totally smoothly, so there may be a
brief delay in the processing of LL-L issues. I thank you in advance
for your understanding and patience.

Regards,
Reinhard/Ron
