concrete:

in Dutch indeed it is called "gewapend beton" which refers to the
strengthening aspect.
I hope this was part of your question.

Dear Ansgar, dear Lowlanders,

first of all I wish to say that I'm glad to learn there is another
Emslander on the list. Hello Ansgar. I could tell by your name, that you
must be from Emsland or somewhere around!

I would translate the proverb as follows:

Mit'n laaien is beter warken as mit'n dummen.

This is how I would express it in my native Wippingen/Hümmling Low
Saxon.

Happy New Year to everybody on the list.

Regards

Hyazinth Sievering

Leive Ansgar, leive Leeglanders,

eers maol mutt ik seggen dat ik bliede bün, hier noch'n Emslander op de
Lieste to finnen. Moin Ansgar. An dien Naom kunn ik all marken, dat du
wall
ut't Emsland of dichtebie kaomen kunns. Diene Seggwiese dö ik in mien
Wüppanger Platt so utdrücken:

Mit'n laaien is beter warken as mit'n dummen.

Glücksengs Neijohr an ale op de Lieste.

Munter
