Subject: Low Saxon Translation

Hello Ansgar !

The examples of the Low Saxon You gave remind me to our Eastern Frisian
Platt (we also say: "wicht" and "pro:ten" but "küren" has a somewhat
different meaning). I imagine Your Low Saxon is from an area not far
from
here. If that is right, I might be able to help You:
For example: lazy = la:j (the a: means a long vowel "a" - normally I'd
write it putting a stroke above the letter), "it" would be "'t", "et"
or "dat" depending on the context and stupid is "dum".
The sentence You quoted could sound: "Dor is be:ter wa:rken mit 'n lâj
as
mit 'n duem" (In German-based orthography: Dar is beter warken mit 'n
Laaie
as mit 'n Dumme). But depending an the context other possibilities may
be
proper.

Regards
Holger
