Sorry about sending you an unfinished issue a little while ago.  I am
not yet totally used to the ins and outs of my new computer and hit a
new keyboard shortcut that sends off mail ...

Many thanks to Sandy Fleming for standing in for me during my four-day
absence.  It was very kind of him to take the time for this besides his
daily grind and expanding his excellent website "ScotsText"
(http://scotstext.org).

I am happy to welcome a few people who applied for subscription, from
Brazil (Pernambuco), Canada (Ontario, Québec), Scotland (Edinburgh) and
USA (Oregon, Pennsylvania).  Their applications arrived via the new
online form during my absence.  My apologies for making the applicants
wait till after my return from Canada.  I ask them and all other
subscribers to read or reread our rules and guidelines:

The new application form seems to be working well and appears to account
for a sudden increase in subscription applications, even though so far
it is only on the index page

As soon as I can get around to it I will put the form onto the various
language versions.  Thank you to those of you who have so far helped me
by sending me translations of words and phrases.  I still need
translations into Westerlauwer Frisian (Frysk), Sater Frisian
(Seeltersk), Mooring Frisian (Frasch), and Amrum Frisian (Öömrang), and
also some of it in Mennonite Low Saxon (Plautdietsch) and in
Appalachian.  My apologies if someone already sent me any of this and a
mislaid it.
